Jacen Rex Orlando Russell-Rowe, born on September 13, 2002, is a Canadian soccer player. He plays as a forward, which means he's usually trying to score goals! Jacen plays for the Columbus Crew, a team in Major League Soccer (MLS), and also for the Canadian national team.

Jacen's Early Life and Soccer Start
Jacen started playing soccer when he was just three years old! He played with a team called Brampton YSC. Later, he joined the Toronto FC Academy, which is a special training program for young soccer players.
College Soccer Career
In 2020, Jacen decided to play college soccer at the University of Maryland, College Park. He joined their team, the Terrapins. On February 19, 2021, in his very first game for Maryland, he scored an amazing goal from far away against the Penn State Nittany Lions. This was his first goal in college soccer!
A few weeks later, on March 7, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against the Wisconsin Badgers. This helped Maryland get their first win of the season. Because of his great first year, Jacen was named to the 2020/21 Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Professional Club Career
Jacen's professional journey began early. In 2018, he played one game for Toronto FC III in a league called League1 Ontario.
Starting with Toronto FC II
On July 3, 2019, Jacen made his first professional appearance with Toronto FC II. He came into the game as a substitute against FC Tucson in the USL League One. This was a big step for him!
Joining Columbus Crew
In March 2022, Jacen signed with MLS Next Pro team Columbus Crew 2. He scored his first professional goal for them on April 10 against Philadelphia Union II. He was doing so well that on May 28, he got to play for the main team, the Columbus Crew, on a short loan for an MLS game against Atlanta United.
He played for the main Crew team again on June 18 against Charlotte FC. This was his official debut in Major League Soccer (MLS)! Jacen was named the MLS Next Pro Player of the Month for both May and June 2022. He also won the 2022 MLS Next Pro MVP award and the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals (21 goals!). He was even named to the MLS Next Pro Best XI, which means he was one of the best players in the league.
Moving to the Main Roster
On June 29, 2022, the Columbus Crew officially signed Jacen to their main team roster. He made his first MLS start that same day against his old club, Toronto FC. He helped his team win 2-1 by setting up two goals! Jacen scored his first MLS goal on March 25, 2023, in a big 6-1 win against Atlanta United.
International Soccer Career
Jacen was born in Canada, and his family is from Jamaica. He started playing for Canadian youth teams in 2016, when he was called to a training camp for the Canada U15 team.
Playing for Canada's Youth Teams
Jacen played for Canada's Under-17 team in the 2019 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. He was then chosen to play in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup. At this big tournament, he scored both of Canada's goals! In 2019, he was even nominated for Canadian Youth International Player of the Year.
Playing for the Senior National Team
In May 2023, Jacen was included in the first list of players for the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals for the Canadian senior team. In June 2023, he was named to the final squad for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Jacen made his debut for the senior team in the first game of the tournament against Guadeloupe on June 27.
In June 2024, Jacen was also chosen to be part of Canada's team for the 2024 Copa América, another very important international tournament.
