Jack B. Sowards (born March 18, 1929, died July 8, 2007) was an American writer for movies and TV shows. He is best known for his work on the famous science fiction series Star Trek. He wrote the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. He also wrote an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called "Where Silence Has Lease".

A cool fact is that he invented the term Kobayashi Maru. This is a special test in The Wrath of Khan. He named it after his neighbors!
