Her Famous Books
The Lost Words
The Lost Words is a very special book. It was created by Jackie Morris and writer Robert Macfarlane. The book is full of "spells" or poems that bring back words related to nature. These words include acorn, blackberry, and conker.
The idea for the book came about because some nature words were removed from a dictionary for younger readers. Words like kingfisher were taken out to make space for new technology words. Many people, including famous writers, were upset about this. Jackie and Robert decided to create The Lost Words to celebrate these "lost" nature words.
Exhibitions and Other Versions
The beautiful artwork from The Lost Words was shown in art galleries. An exhibition was held at Compton Verney in 2017. It featured huge pictures of the poems and illustrations. This exhibition then traveled to other places across Britain.
A Welsh version of The Lost Words was also published. It's called Geiriau Diflanedig. A special audiobook of The Lost Words was made too. It features famous voices like Guy Garvey and Cerys Matthews.
The Lost Spells
Jackie Morris and Robert Macfarlane also created another book called The Lost Spells. This book is like a smaller, pocket-sized version of The Lost Words. It also celebrates nature and the magic of words.
