Jade Seah (Chinese: 谢美玉; pinyin: Xiè Měiyù) is a well-known personality from Singapore. She was born on April 6, 1983. Jade is famous for her work as a model, a host on TV shows, and an actress. Jade Seah's Career Journey
Jade Seah started her career as a model. She became well-known after competing in the Miss Singapore Universe pageant in 2006. She placed as the first runner-up in that competition. Soon after, she signed a contract with Mediacorp.
Early Hosting and TV Roles
Jade became a host for the Singaporean reality TV show, The Dance Floor. She hosted this show alongside Glenn Ong and Mark Van Cuylenberg. She also reported for Today in Beijing on Channel 5. This program covered the daily highlights of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Unintended Sound Incident in 2008
While hosting Today in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics, an unexpected incident happened. Jade was heard making an unintended sound live on air. This happened after she mispronounced the name of a Chinese athlete. The scene quickly switched from the studio to a recorded basketball match.
A recording of this moment was uploaded online. It led to many discussions on forums and social media. However, her manager stated that Jade did not say anything inappropriate. Mediacorp also confirmed this at first.
The next day, a MediaCorp executive, Mr. Kenneth Liang, confirmed what happened. He explained that Jade had made the sound unintentionally. Her microphone was not turned off right after she finished speaking. This meant her reaction to the mistake was heard on the program. MediaCorp decided that Jade would continue as the co-host of Today in Beijing. Jade later apologized for the incident and explained her reaction.
Jade Seah's Personal Life
Jade Seah is the only daughter in her family. She has two brothers. She has both Chinese and Eurasian heritage.
Education and Family Life
Jade went to Tanjong Katong Girls' School. She then studied at Tampines Junior College. After that, she attended Singapore Management University. She graduated with honors in Communications and Marketing. She was also on the Dean's list, which means she achieved excellent grades.
On January 31, 2015, Jade Seah married Terence Lim. He works as a banker. Their wedding took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
