The Jaguar S-Type was a cool and fancy car made by Jaguar. It first appeared in 1998 and was sold from 1999 to 2008. This car was a four-door saloon, which means it had a separate trunk sticking out at the back.
In 2005, the S-Type got a small update to its look, like a "facelift." A special version from 2002, the S-Type 4.2 Supercharged V8, was actually the fastest production saloon car in the world at that time! The S-Type stopped being made in 2007 and was replaced by the Jaguar XF car in 2008.
About the Jaguar S-Type
After Jaguar became a private company in 1984, they started planning to make smaller cars. These plans were put on hold when Ford bought Jaguar in 1989. But a few years later, the idea came back!
The S-Type cars were built in Birmingham, England, at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich factory. The car was shown to the public for the first time on October 20, 1998. It went on sale in January 1999. Jaguar hoped this car would be popular with people who liked cars like the BMW 5 Series.
Special Features and Design
You could choose to have the famous "leaping jaguar" statue on the front hood of the S-Type. This cool hood ornament was designed to break away easily if there was an accident, making it safe. Some S-Type models had the Jaguar logo built right into the front grille instead. In Australia, the leaping jaguar ornament only became available in 2004.
