Early Days: High School Basketball
Jalen went to High Point Christian Academy in North Carolina for high school. During his time there, he played alongside another talented player, Bam Adebayo. Bam later became a well-known player for the Miami Heat in the NBA. Playing with strong teammates helped Jalen develop his own skills.
College Hoops: UNC Asheville
After high school, Jalen decided to play college basketball for UNC Asheville. He officially joined the team on June 1, 2017.
He quickly made an impact. In only his second college game, Jalen scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. This helped his team win 92–60 against Lees–McRae. He played for UNC Asheville for two years, gaining valuable experience.
Making an Impact: Fayetteville State
After two years at UNC Asheville, Jalen transferred to Fayetteville State University. He continued his studies and his basketball career there. Jalen immediately became a key player for the Fayetteville State Broncos. He helped them achieve many wins.
On December 19, 2019, Jalen had an amazing game. He scored a career-high 39 points in an overtime victory against the Lincoln Lions. This was a huge moment in his college career.
Jalen's leadership continued into his final year. On February 26, 2022, he scored 15 points to help Fayetteville State win the 2022 CIAA Tournament championship game. For his outstanding performance, Jalen was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
