Jamar J. Wilson (born February 22, 1984) is a former professional basketball player. He played as a Point guard, which is like the team's leader on the court. Jamar played for many teams around the world. He also became a Finnish citizen and played for the Finland national basketball team. After his playing career, he became an assistant coach for Tapiolan Honka.

Jamar Wilson's Early Basketball Days
Jamar Wilson attended two high schools in New York. He first went to All Hallows High School in the Bronx, New York. Later, he transferred to Our Savior New American School in Centereach, New York. In his final year of high school, he was a key player. He helped his team win the 2002 NACA Division I Boys Basketball National Championship.
College Basketball Career
Jamar Wilson played college basketball for the Albany Great Danes from 2002 to 2007. He quickly made a big impression. As a freshman, he was named the America East Conference Rookie of the Year. He also earned a spot on the All-Conference second team.
After taking a year off due to injury, Jamar returned strong. He again made the All-Conference second team. For his last two seasons, Jamar became an even better player. He led the Great Danes to their first two appearances in the NCAA Division I tournament. He was named the America East Conference Player of the Year in both of those years. Jamar also won the America East tournament MVP award twice.
Jamar Wilson scored 2,164 points during his time at Albany. This is the most points ever scored by a player in the school's history. His jersey number 31 was retired by the Albany Great Danes. This is a special honor for outstanding players.
Professional Basketball Journey
Jamar Wilson had a long and exciting professional basketball career. He played for teams in many different countries.
Playing in Belgium (2007–2010)
Jamar started his professional career in Belgium. He played for VOO Wolves Verviers-Pepinster in the 2007–08 season. He then moved to Belgacom Liège Basket for the 2008–09 season. After that, he played for Generali Okapi Aalstar in 2009–10. During his time in Belgium, he showed his skills as a strong scorer and passer.
Success in Finland (2010–2011)
In 2010, Jamar moved to Finland to play for Honka Espoo Playboys. He had an amazing season there. In one game, he scored 45 points, and just two days later, he scored 44 points! He averaged over 21 points per game for the season.
Time in Australia (2011–2015)
Jamar Wilson then played in Australia for the Cairns Taipans. He joined them for the 2011–12 NBL season. He was named player of the week twice and was almost voted the league's MVP. He stayed with the Taipans for two more seasons. In 2014, he scored a career-high 33 points in a game.
After leaving the Taipans, Jamar signed with the Adelaide 36ers in 2014. He continued to play very well, earning Player of the Week honors twice. He was also named the 36ers' club MVP for the 2015 season. Jamar was recognized as one of the best players in the NBL, earning All-NBL second team honors.
Later Career in Europe (2015–2022)
After his time in Australia, Jamar played for several teams across Europe.

- From 2015 to 2016, he played for Partizan Belgrade in Serbia.
- In 2016–17, he joined Estudiantes in Spain.
- He then played for Nanterre 92 in France during the 2017–18 season.

- He returned to Finland to play for Kataja BC from 2020 to 2022.

Playing for Finland's National Team
Jamar Wilson became a Finnish citizen in June 2015. This allowed him to play for the Finnish national team. He made his first international appearance for Finland in August 2015.
He was a member of the Finnish team at EuroBasket 2015. In his first game, he scored 21 points against France. He also helped Finland win a game against Bosnia and Herzegovina by scoring 16 points. Jamar continued to represent Finland at EuroBasket 2017.
Jamar Wilson's Family Life
Jamar Wilson's parents are Bobby Livingston and Carolyn Wilson. His cousin, Dyree Wilson, also played college basketball. Jamar is married to Laura Wilson, who used to play for the Finland national team herself. They met when they were both playing college basketball in the United States. Jamar and Laura have a daughter named Fiona.
