In the Buddhist religion, Jambhala is a special helper. He is known as the god of wealth. Jambhala is a form of Avalokiteśvara, who is a bodhisattva. A bodhisattva is like a super-helper who wants to help all living things. Avalokiteśvara is known for his great compassion for everyone.
Who is Jambhala?
Jambhala is an important figure in Buddhism. People believe he brings good fortune and helps overcome poverty. His main goal is to help others. He wants people to have enough resources so they can focus on practicing the Dharma. The Dharma is the path to understanding Buddhist teachings.
The Five Jambhalas: Different Colors, Different Meanings
There are five main forms of Jambhala. Each one has a different color and helps overcome a specific challenge:
- Yellow Jambhala helps people overcome pride.
- White Jambhala helps people let go of strong attachments to things.
- Black Jambhala helps people overcome feelings of resentment.
- Green Jambhala helps people deal with jealousy.
- Red Jambhala helps people overcome greed.
For example, the White Jambhala is often shown sitting on a turquoise dragon. In his left hand, he holds a mongoose. This mongoose is special because it gives out many precious jewels.
