Jamel McLean (born April 18, 1988) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Kumamoto Volters team in Japan's B.League. Jamel is 6 feet 8 inches tall. He plays as a power forward or center.

Jamel McLean's Basketball Journey
Jamel McLean started his professional basketball career in 2011. He was not chosen in the 2011 NBA draft, so he began playing overseas. His first team was the Leuven Bears in Belgium.
Playing in Belgium and Germany
In October 2012, Jamel joined Telenet Oostende, another team in Belgium. After a couple of months, he moved to Germany. In January 2013, he signed with Telekom Baskets Bonn. He played with them for the rest of that season and for another year.
Becoming an MVP in Germany
Jamel then joined Alba Berlin, another German team, in August 2014. He had a fantastic season with them. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Basketball Bundesliga, which is Germany's top basketball league. This was a big achievement for him!
Success in Italy and Greece
In July 2015, Jamel signed a two-year contract with EA7 Emporio Armani Milano in Italy. While playing in Italy, he helped his team win the LBA championship in 2016. They also won the Italian Cup twice and the Italian Supercup once.
After his time in Italy, Jamel moved to Greece. In July 2017, he signed with the famous Greek club Olympiacos. He played there for one season.
Moving to Russia and Back to Italy
In July 2018, Jamel joined the Russian team Lokomotiv Kuban. He played there for a season before returning to Italy. In August 2019, he signed with Dinamo Sassari in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A.
Playing in Japan and Other European Teams
During the 2019-2020 season, Jamel left Italy to play in Japan. He signed with the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins in the B.League.
In February 2021, he returned to Germany to play for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. Later that year, in July 2021, he signed with Casademont Zaragoza in Spain. He played well, averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds per game. He then moved back to Germany again, joining Skyliners Frankfurt in November 2021.
Current Team: Kumamoto Volters
In July 2022, Jamel McLean signed with the Kumamoto Volters in Japan's B.League. He has been with this team since then. He sometimes faced injuries, but he always worked hard to get back on the court. For the 2023-24 season, he even changed his jersey number from 3 to 1. He continues to be an important player for the Volters.
