Jamel Thomas (born July 19, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a guard and forward. Jamel was born in Brooklyn, New York.

Jamel Thomas's Basketball Journey
Jamel Thomas played college basketball at Providence College. He graduated in 1999. After college, he played in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Early Career in the NBA
During the 1999–2000 NBA season, Jamel played a few games. He played three games for the Boston Celtics. He also played four games for the Golden State Warriors. In the 2000–01 season, he played five games with the New Jersey Nets.
Jamel also signed with other NBA teams. These included the Cleveland Cavaliers and Portland Trail Blazers. He also signed with the Utah Jazz. However, he did not play in any NBA games for these teams.
Playing in the CBA
Jamel played two seasons in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). This was another professional basketball league. He was named the CBA Rookie of the Year in 2000. He was also part of the CBA All-Rookie Team that year. In 2001, he became the CBA scoring champion. This means he scored the most points in the league.
Playing Overseas
After playing in the NBA and CBA, Jamel moved overseas. He played for many teams in other countries. He mostly played in Turkey and Italy. For example, in 2006–07, he played for Beşiktaş in Turkey. He also played for Angelico Biella in Italy.

Jamel Thomas has a younger half-brother named Sebastian Telfair. Sebastian also played in the NBA. Jamel also has a cousin, Stephon Marbury, who was a well-known basketball player.
