James, Son of Alphaeus was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. The New Testament does not say much about him.
Some traditions say that James, Son of Alphaeus, was the brother of Levi, also known as Matthew, because Levi is also called "son of Alphaeus" in the Gospel of Mark 2:14. However, the Bible does not clearly state this, unlike the brothers James and John, who were sons of Zebedee.
