James Bruce Falls is a super tall waterfall in British Columbia, Canada. It's known as the highest-measured waterfall in North America. It's also one of the top ten tallest waterfalls in the whole world!
Where is James Bruce Falls?
This amazing waterfall is found inside Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park. This park is a beautiful place in British Columbia. The falls are quite hidden and can be a bit tricky to reach.
How the Falls are Formed
James Bruce Falls starts from a small area of snow that stays frozen for a long time. This snowfield slowly melts, creating two streams of water. These streams then tumble down a huge cliff. The water falls about 840 meters (that's over half a mile!).
The Flow of the Water
The two streams that make up James Bruce Falls are what give it its name. However, the amount of water flowing isn't always the same. During hot summer months, the snowfield can melt quickly. But sometimes, if it's very hot and dry, the streams might even dry up completely! The water from these streams eventually flows into a larger stream called Loquilts Creek. This creek then empties into Princess Louisa Inlet, near another famous waterfall called Chatterbox Falls.
