James Christopher Read (born July 31, 1953) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing George Hazard in the TV miniseries North and South. He also had a regular role as Victor Bennett on the popular supernatural TV show Charmed. You might also know him from the soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Early Life and Education
James Read was born in Buffalo, New York. He first started acting when he was a law student at the University of Oregon. He finished his studies there in 1976. After college, he moved to New York City to learn more about acting. He performed in many plays both in New York and in other parts of the United States. Later, in 1998, he earned a special degree called a Master's degree in psychology from Pepperdine University.
Acting Career Highlights
James Read is most famous for his role as George Hazard in the North and South TV miniseries. These shows came out in 1985, 1986, and 1994. They were based on a series of books by John Jakes. Fun fact: his co-star, Patrick Swayze, taught him how to ride a horse for the show!
He also had a big part in the movie Beaches (1988). On TV, he played Victor Bennett on Charmed for several years. He was also a regular actor in the first season of Remington Steele. More recently, he played Ken Davis on the family drama Wildfire. He even directed an episode of Wildfire in 2008. From 2014, he has played Clyde Weston on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. In 2018, he joined another soap opera, General Hospital, as Gregory Chase.
Personal Life
James Read married Lora Lee in 1978, but they divorced in 1983. In 1988, he married Wendy Kilbourne, who was also an actress. They have two children: a son named Jackson (born in 1990) and a daughter named Sydney (born in 1995). The family lives in Santa Barbara, California.
