By 1642, James Rochfort was a Captain of Foot. This meant he led a group of soldiers on foot. He was stationed in Naas with about 100 men. In 1647, he became a lieutenant colonel. He served under another officer named Colonel Long.

James Rochfort married Thomasine Piggott Hull. She was the daughter of Sir Robert Piggott. James and Thomasine had two daughters, Thomasine and Dorothy. They also had two sons, including their eldest son, Robert Rochfort.

The End of His Life

Lieutenant Colonel James Rochfort passed away in 1652. He was involved in an incident where another officer, Major Turner, was injured. Major Turner later died from his injuries. James Rochfort was held responsible for this event. He died on March 9, 1652.
