James Alexander Singleton (born July 20, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a forward and was known for his athletic skills. After his playing career, he became an assistant coach for the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League.

College Basketball Journey
James Singleton went to Hirsch High School in Chicago. After high school, he played college basketball at two different schools. First, he attended Pearl River Community College. Later, he played for Murray State University.
During his two years at Murray State, he was a very strong player. He scored about 13.5 points and grabbed 10.5 rebounds per game. He also blocked almost two shots per game. He played a total of 60 games for Murray State. His great performance earned him special honors in the Ohio Valley Conference. He was named to the second-team All-OVC in 2001–02. The next year, in 2002–03, he made the first-team All-OVC. He also led the entire conference in rebounds during his senior year.
Professional Basketball Career
James Singleton was not chosen by any team in the NBA draft. This means he started his professional career outside the NBA.
Playing in Italy
Singleton began his professional journey in Italy during the 2003–04 season. He played for a team called Sicc Cucine Jesi. He was a star player, averaging 20.8 points and 12 rebounds per game. His team won the Lega2 title, which helped them move up to a higher league called Serie A. Because of his excellent play, he was named the Eurobasket All-Italian Lega2 Player of the Year.
After that, he joined another Italian team, Armani Jeans Milano, for the 2004–05 season. He continued to play well, averaging 11.5 points and 8.6 rebounds. He also made two steals per game. He helped his team reach the finals of the Italian SerieA League. Fans loved him for his exciting dunks and strong defense. He was even named the Most Valuable Player of the 2005 Italian League All-Star Game.
First Time in the NBA
On August 30, 2005, James Singleton got his chance to play in the NBA. He signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. This was his first time playing in the famous NBA league.
Success in Spain
After his time with the Clippers, Singleton moved to Spain. He joined a team called TAU Cerámica for the 2007–08 season. He helped his team win the ACB title, which is the top basketball league in Spain. They beat F.C. Barcelona in the finals with a score of 3–0.
Return to the NBA
Because of his great success in Europe, NBA teams noticed James Singleton again. He had improved a lot. He then joined the Dallas Mavericks for his second chance in the NBA.
Later, on February 13, 2010, Singleton was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards.
Playing in China and Venezuela
On September 6, 2010, Singleton decided to play in China. He signed a contract with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association. He helped lead his team all the way to the CBA finals.
For the 2011–12 season, Singleton joined the Guangdong Southern Tigers, another team in China. He again helped his team reach the CBA Finals. After the Chinese season ended, he returned to play for the Washington Wizards. In 2012, he went back to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and signed a two-year contract.
After taking some time off for the birth of his son, Singleton returned to basketball in 2015. He was acquired by the Canton Charge in January. In May, he signed with Guaros de Lara in Venezuela.
Playing in Israel and South Korea
On August 13, 2015, Singleton signed with Bnei Herzliya in the Israeli Ligat HaAl.
On August 7, 2016, he signed with Maccabi Kiryat Gat, another Israeli team. He played eight games there before moving on. On December 20, 2016, he signed with the Seoul SK Knights in the Korean Basketball League.
