James Michael Spady, born on January 5, 1966, is an American college football coach. He also used to play football himself. Today, he works as an associate head coach and tight ends coach at Florida A&M University. Before this, he was the head coach at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) from December 2013 until November 2017. Spady is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

James Spady has spent many years in college football. He started as a player. Then, he became a coach. He has worked with several different teams.
Playing Days
James Spady played college football for the UTEP Miners from 1985 to 1988. He played as a center. A center is a player who snaps the ball to the quarterback. He was very good, earning "All-WAC" awards twice. This means he was one of the best players in the Western Athletic Conference. After college, he played a bit of professional arena football. He played for the Denver Dynamite in 1991. He also played for the Sacramento Attack in 1992.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, James Spady became a coach. He started at UTEP, where he used to play. He worked there from 1993 to 2003 in different roles. He coached tight ends and defensive linemen.
He then coached at other universities. These included South Carolina State and North Carolina Central. From 2007 to 2009, he was the offensive coordinator at Grambling State. An offensive coordinator plans the team's attacking plays. He also coached the offensive line there.
Later, he coached tight ends at Nevada from 2010 to 2013.
Head Coach at Alabama A&M
In December 2013, James Spady became the head coach for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. As a head coach, he was in charge of the entire team. He led the Bulldogs for four seasons, from 2014 to 2017. During his time as head coach, his team won 15 games and lost 30 games.
Current Role
Since 2018, James Spady has been coaching at Florida A&M University. He is the associate head coach. This means he helps the main head coach. He also coaches the tight ends. He is still in this role today.
