James Tindall (born April 22, 1983) is a former professional field hockey player from England. He was a key member of both the England and Great Britain national teams. He played for these teams from January 2005 until the end of 2012. James also represented his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. He played 126 games for England, scoring 56 goals. For Great Britain, he played 70 games and scored 24 goals.

James Tindall's Hockey Journey
Early Club Days
James Tindall grew up in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. He started his club hockey career at Old Georgians. He played there for two seasons, from 2003 to 2005. Before that, he was part of the youth program at Surbiton. In 2005, James was recognized for his talent. He was named the Hockey Writers Club Player of the Year.
Playing for Surbiton
James joined Surbiton Hockey Club at the start of the 2005–2006 season. He had a fantastic first season, scoring 24 goals. While playing for Surbiton, James also represented England in major international events.
International Competitions
He played for England at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He also competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. James was part of the England team that won the European Championship in 2009. They also earned a bronze medal in the same championship in 2011. In 2010, his team won a silver medal at the Champions Trophy.
Olympic Appearances
James was chosen to play for Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. During a game against Canada, he received a yellow card for a foul. He also played for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Return to Club Hockey
After the 2012 Olympics, James focused more on his club career. He was the second-highest goal scorer in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division in the 2012-13 season. He scored 18 goals that year.
Back to Old Georgians
In 2014, James returned to his first club, Old Georgians. The club wanted to move up to the Men's England Hockey League. They were promoted the next season. During his second time at Old Georgians, James scored 100 goals over three seasons. He helped Old Georgians win two league and cup doubles. These wins happened in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
Later Career
James left Old Georgians in 2023. He then joined Indian Gymkhana for the 2023-24 season.
