Jamil Walker Smith was born on August 20, 1982. He is an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He is most famous for being the voice of Gerald Johanssen. Gerald is a fourth grader and Arnold's best friend in the cartoon TV show Hey Arnold! on Nickelodeon.

Jamil has also appeared in many other TV shows. These include Sister, Sister, Girlfriends, Bones, The X-Files, and The Bernie Mac Show. He is also known for playing Master Sergeant Ronald Greer in the science fiction series Stargate Universe. Besides acting, Jamil also writes and directs his own short films.

Early Life and Start in Acting

Jamil Walker Smith was born in New York City, New York. He started acting professionally when he was just 6 years old. He performed in local theaters in Los Angeles. He was even nominated for two NAACP Theatre Awards for his acting. He was also chosen as a California Arts Scholar.

Jamil got his first acting job at age 12. He was a guest star in an episode of the TV show The Sinbad Show. Later, he studied Theater Arts at SUNY Purchase college.

Career Highlights

Jamil Walker Smith has done a lot in his career. He wrote and directed a movie called The American Dream. He won the New Visions Award at Cinequest and Best Director at the Urbanworld Film Festival for this movie.

He also starred in a movie called Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins. Jamil was a regular actor on the Syfy Network's show Stargate Universe. He also wrote and directed a short film called The Son. This film was shown at the Urbanworld Film Festival.

Jamil also co-wrote and directed I Want to be Ready. This was a film based on a book. He also co-wrote and co-directed a short film called Wild Geese. This film was shown at international film festivals in 2013 and 2014. Jamil has also written a story called The Pyn. He planned to direct it in 2015.

He also teaches acting to young students at Baldwin Hills Elementary School. In 2013, Jamil won the New Leaders Council "40 Under 40" Media Leadership Award. In 2014, he appeared on the TV show General Hospital as Jeffrey Scribner.
