Jane Bunn's Career Journey

Becoming a Weather Expert

Jane Bunn studied science at Monash University in 2005. She focused on Atmospheric Science, which is the study of Earth's atmosphere and weather, and Mathematics. During her studies, she also spent time learning at Pennsylvania State University in the United States.

After finishing her university degree, Jane was chosen to complete a special program. This program was a Graduate Diploma of Meteorology, provided by the Bureau of Meteorology. This is where she learned how to become a professional weather forecaster.

Working as a Forecaster

Once she completed her training, Jane worked as a weather forecaster in different places. She started in Sydney, then moved to Canberra. Later, she worked at the RAAF's Williamtown base, which is an air force base. Her job was to predict the weather for these areas.

Presenting the Weather on TV

In June 2009, Jane became a weather presenter for WIN News Victoria. She quickly became very popular, especially with farmers. Farmers often rely on accurate weather reports for their crops and animals.

After five years at WIN News Victoria, Jane decided to try something new. She left in June 2014. For a short time, she filled in as a weather presenter on ABC News Breakfast and ABC News Victoria.

Then, in November 2014, the Seven Network announced that Jane would join their team. She became the new weather presenter for Seven News Melbourne in December of that year.

Jane has also shared her weather knowledge on other shows. She has been a weather expert on Today and the radio station 3AW. She helped explain severe weather events, like the Queensland floods and the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria.

Jane Bunn grew up in the bayside suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. She went to Firbank Grammar School for her high school education.

Family and Hobbies

In 2006, Jane married Michael, who works with computers. They live together in Melbourne. Jane is also a big fan of Australian Rules Football. She supports the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League.
