Janice Patrice Gaines, born on May 22, 1981, is an American gospel singer and songwriter. She has been nominated for important music awards like the Stellar Award and GMA Dove Award. Her first songs, "Wait On You" and "The Break-Up Song," came out in 2015. Her first album, Greatest Life Ever, was released by Motown Gospel. It was produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer LaShawn Daniels. This album became one of the top 10 gospel albums on the Billboard charts.

About Janice Gaines
Janice Gaines was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1981. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. She started singing in church as a child. Her father was a minister, and her mother was a singer and musician. Janice also has a brother named Jon.
When she was a teenager, Janice was the youngest singer in a choir called O'Landa Draper & The Associates. She went to Oberlin College. While there, she sang backup for R&B singer Howard Hewett. After college, she studied at Ashland Theological Seminary. Later, she moved to New York City to teach math to seventh graders. Today, she lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with her husband, Erik Justin "E.J." Gaines.

Janice Gaines began her music career in 2010. She toured the country as part of the Worship Team for Women of Faith. This is a Christian live events group.
In 2012, she released her first song, "One Day." This song caught the attention of Ken Pennell, who was the president of Motown Gospel. He later signed her to a record deal.
In December 2014, Janice Gaines sang on the Motown Christmas album. She performed a duet with GRAMMY Award-nominated R&B singer Kem (singer) on the song "Bethlehem."
In 2015, Motown Gospel released two more songs from Janice Gaines. These were "Wait On You" and "The Break-Up Song." "Wait On You" reached No. 21 on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart. Her first album, Greatest Life Ever, came out on October 9, 2015. It was produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer LaShawn Daniels. This album reached No. 7 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart.
In 2016, Janice Gaines received her first GMA Dove Award nomination. This was for her song "Wait On You." In 2017, she earned her first Stellar Award nomination for Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year.
