Jaqué is a small town, also known as a corregimiento, in Panama. It is part of the Chepigana District in the Darién Province. Jaqué is located about 38 kilometers (24 miles) west of Panama's border with Colombia. The closest town nearby is Puerto Piña, which is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) north.

Getting to Jaqué

Jaqué is in a special area called the Darién Gap. This means there are no permanent roads connecting Jaqué to the rest of Panama. So, people usually travel to Jaqué by plane or by boat. The town has its own airport, called the Jaqué Airport, which helps people get in and out.

Jaqué's Location and Nature

Jaqué is right on the Pacific coast, where the Jaqué River meets the ocean. The area around the town is mostly flat. You'll find lots of mangrove swamps and thick tropical rainforests here. If you go further inland, you'll see higher lands with different kinds of forests, known as temperate broadleaf and mixed forests.

Jaqué has a tropical monsoon climate. This means it's usually warm and has two main seasons: a wet season and a dry season.
