Early Life and Music Career
Jared Gomes was born in Fort Worth, Texas. His mother has an Indigenous Brazilian background, and his father has an Afro-Brazilian background.
Gomes started his music career as the lead singer for a new wave band called The Clue from 1984 to 1990. After that, he was the frontman for a band called Live Urban ... Tribe.
Forming Hed PE
In the early 1990s, Gomes met guitarist Wes Geer in the hardcore punk music scene in Orange County, California. They decided to start a new band together. They found other musicians and named their group "Hed," which stood for "higher education."
The band became popular by playing exciting shows at local clubs. They even made their own album called Church of Realities. However, they had to change their name for legal reasons, so they became "Hed PE," with "PE" standing for "Planet Earth."
The band signed with Jive Records, a major record label. After making a few albums with Jive, Hed PE decided to release their music on their own. They later signed with a different label, Suburban Noize Records.
Solo Music and Collaborations
Gomes has said he would like to record a solo hip hop album but needs to find the time for it.
He has also worked with other artists. In 2007, he was featured on the song "Weak ... Out" from the album Independents Day by the group Twiztid.
Musical Style and Influences
Gomes has a unique vocal style. He can switch from smooth, melodic singing to fast rapping and even intense death growls.
His music is inspired by many different artists and genres. Some of his biggest influences include:
