Jarren Williams' Football Journey
Jarren Williams has played for a few different teams in his professional football career. He started his journey in 2020.
Starting with the Arizona Cardinals
After the 2020 NFL draft, Jarren Williams joined the Arizona Cardinals. He was signed as an undrafted free agent, meaning a team picked him up even though he wasn't chosen in the main draft. However, he was released from the team on July 26, 2020. This happened because of special rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time.
Playing for the New York Giants
Williams then signed with the New York Giants on August 2, 2020. He got his first chance to start in an NFL game on December 19, 2020. In that game against the Dallas Cowboys, he made five tackles and blocked one pass. He played almost the entire game on defense, showing how well he could play. He continued to play strongly in the next game against the Philadelphia Eagles, making five more tackles. Besides playing defense, he also helped out on special teams, which are plays like kickoffs and punts.
In March 2022, Williams signed a new contract with the Giants. However, he was later released on August 1, 2022, due to a hamstring injury. He officially left the team after reaching an injury settlement on August 5, 2022.
Time with the Detroit Lions
On November 29, 2022, Jarren Williams joined the Detroit Lions practice squad. Players on the practice squad train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was called up to play in two games that season, where he mostly played on special teams. He signed a contract for the next season on January 9, 2023. However, he was released again on August 4, 2023, after another injury settlement.
