Acting and Writing
Jason Barrett has shown his talent as a performer on both screen and stage. He has appeared in popular British TV shows like EastEnders and The Bill. He also had a role in the 2010 movie The Big I Am.
On stage, he performed in a hit play called The Brothers. The show was so popular that it broke ticket sale records at the Hackney Empire in London. It was even shown on MTV in April 2009.
Besides acting, Jason is also a writer and director. He wrote and directed a movie called The ... Poet, which was released in 2012. The film featured several well-known actors.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Jason began his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2005. In MMA, fighters use a mix of different fighting styles like boxing, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu. He fought in the welterweight and middleweight classes, which are categories based on a fighter's weight.
Over his career, he had 10 professional fights. He won 3 of them and lost 7. His wins came from a knockout (KO), a technical knockout (TKO), and a referee stoppage. A TKO is when the referee stops the fight because one fighter can no longer defend themselves.
Famous Fight Against Alex Reid
One of Jason's most talked-about fights was against Alex Reid. For a long time, Jason publicly challenged Alex to a fight. This created a lot of excitement and tension between the two fighters.
They finally faced each other on August 6, 2011, at an event called UCMMA 22. It was Jason's first fight in the middleweight class. Before the match, both fighters were very competitive.
During the fight, Alex Reid won in the first round. He used a move called a triangle choke, which is a type of submission hold that makes an opponent give up, or "tap out."
Overcoming Challenges
In 2012, Jason was involved in a serious incident and was arrested. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him in 2013. He took responsibility for his actions and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
