Jason French was born on April 7, 1978. He is a former professional Canadian football player. He played as a slotback, which is a type of receiver in football. Jason French was chosen by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round of the 2001 CFL Draft. Before playing professionally, he played college football for the Murray State Racers.

College Football Journey
Jason French spent two years at Murray State University. He transferred there from Middle Georgia College. At Murray State, he was an important player on the team. He was often one of the top receivers.
Playing as a Receiver
During his time at Murray State, French caught many passes. In one season, he had 31 catches for 547 yards. He also scored three touchdowns. In his final year, he caught 24 passes. This made him one of the team's leading receivers.
Professional Football Career
Jason French played for two teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He started with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Later, he played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Saskatchewan Roughriders picked Jason French in the 2001 CFL Draft. In his first year, he caught 12 passes. He gained 197 yards for his team.
Growing as a Player
In his second year, French played in 15 games. He caught 16 passes for 218 yards. In 2003, he played in every game. He scored his first career touchdown that year. He finished the season with 37 catches and two touchdowns.
Highlight Seasons
The year 2004 was a great one for French. He started 13 games. He played as both a slotback and a wide receiver. In one game, he had a career-high six catches for 129 yards. Overall, he caught 52 passes for 869 yards. He also scored four touchdowns. Because of his great play, he was nominated for the CFL's Top Canadian Award.
In 2005, French played in 16 games. He had a fantastic game in week five. He caught 11 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. For the season, he had 52 catches and three touchdowns. In 2006, he played in half of the Roughriders' games. He also played in both playoff games.
Moving to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
On June 24, 2007, Jason French was traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He moved there with another player, Thyron Anderson. In return, the Roughriders received Tad Kornegay.
Scoring Touchdowns
On August 13, 2007, French played against the Edmonton Eskimos. In that game, another player from Murray State, Andrew Nowacki, scored a touchdown. Just one minute later, Jason French also caught a touchdown pass. For the 2007 season, French had 34 catches. He gained 417 yards and tied his career high with four touchdowns. The 2008 season was his last as a professional player.
