Jason Frierson was born in 1970 and is an American lawyer and politician. He currently works as the top government lawyer, called the United States attorney, for the District of Nevada. Before this, he was a member of the Nevada Assembly, which is part of Nevada's state government, from 2011 to 2014 and again from 2016 to 2022. He even served as the leader of the Assembly, known as the Speaker, from 2017 to 2022.

Growing Up and Learning
Jason Frierson was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California. He went to college at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a science degree in 1996. Later, he studied law at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and became a lawyer in 2001.
Working in Nevada's Government
Frierson is a member of the Democratic Party. He first became a member of the Nevada Assembly in 2011. The Assembly is a group of elected officials who make laws for the state of Nevada. He served in this role until 2014.
In 2014, he lost his election by a very small number of votes. However, he ran again in 2016 and won his seat back in the Assembly.
Becoming a Leader in the Assembly
From 2017 to 2022, Jason Frierson was chosen to be the Speaker of the Nevada Assembly. The Speaker is the main leader of the Assembly. They help guide discussions, manage the law-making process, and represent the Assembly. During this time, he was also part of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, a group for Black lawmakers.
Becoming a U.S. Attorney
In 2021, President Joe Biden decided to nominate Jason Frierson to become the United States attorney for the District of Nevada. A U.S. Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officer and prosecutor for a specific judicial district. They represent the United States government in court.
His nomination was sent to the United States Senate, which needed to approve him. After a review by a Senate committee, his nomination was confirmed by the Senate in April 2022. He officially started his new job as the U.S. Attorney on May 11, 2022.
