Jason Garfield, born on August 9, 1974, is a famous juggler and entertainer from Connecticut, USA. He is well-known for starting the World Juggling Federation (WJF). This organization helps promote juggling as a sport.
Juggling as a Sport and Events
Jason Garfield started producing big events in 2004. Many of these events took place in Las Vegas. He learned to juggle when he was 11 years old, in 1986. He quickly became one of the best jugglers around.
Jason felt that there weren't enough chances for jugglers to compete. So, in 2003, he created the World Juggling Federation (WJF). His first big sport juggling event was in December 2004. During this event, he also produced seven sport juggling shows for ESPN.
Ten years later, Jason started SkillCon. This event hosts more than 20 different skill competitions. Jason, the World Juggling Federation, the Moxie Games, and SkillCon returned to Las Vegas in 2019.
Appearing on TV
Garfield was featured on ESPN Classic's show Cheap Seats. On the show, he played a funny character. This character pretended to be very dramatic and would talk to his juggling props. He would even blame the props if he made a mistake. He acted this way to make the show more entertaining for viewers.
Juggling Awards
Jason Garfield has won many awards for his juggling skills:
- He won the Juniors Championship at the International Jugglers' Association (IJA) Summer Festival in 1988.
- He was the Numbers Championship Winner for individual balls and rings at the IJA Summer Festival in 1990.
- He won the Individuals competition at the IJA Summer Festival in 1998.
- He was the Numbers Competition Winner for solo balls, clubs, and rings at the IJA Summer Festival in 2000.
- He won the Numbers Competition for solo rings at the IJA Summer Festival in 2001.
- He was the Individuals Winner again at the IJA Summer Festival in 2002.
