Javid Bowen (born March 30, 1993) is a former professional rugby league player from Australia. He played as a centre and winger for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL.

About Javid Bowen
Javid Bowen was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. He has both Indigenous Australian and Māori heritage. Javid grew up in a small Aboriginal community called Hopevale in Cape York. He went to Abergworie College and played junior rugby league there. Javid is also the nephew of famous rugby league players, Matt and Brenton Bowen.
Javid's Rugby League Journey
Starting His Career
After finishing school, Javid Bowen joined the Sydney Roosters team. He played for their SG Ball Cup side in 2011. In early 2012, Javid moved back to Queensland. He then joined the North Queensland Cowboys. He played for their Under-20s team in the National Youth Competition. Between 2012 and 2013, he played 30 games. He scored 23 tries and kicked 9 goals. This earned him 110 points. In June 2013, the North Queensland Cowboys offered him a three-year contract. This contract was for the NRL team.
Early Successes
In February 2014, Javid was part of the North Queensland team that won the 2014 NRL Auckland Nines tournament. He scored two tries during this competition.
Javid spent the rest of the 2014 season playing for the Northern Pride. This team is linked with the North Queensland Cowboys. In July 2014, Javid played for the Queensland Residents team. He scored a try in their win against New South Wales. In September 2014, Javid helped the Northern Pride win their Grand Final. He scored two tries in that game. A week later, Javid scored three tries in the first-ever 2014 NRL State Championship game. He was named Man of the Match. The Pride won this game against the Penrith Panthers. In his first season with the Pride, Javid played 23 games and scored 12 tries.
In January 2015, Javid was part of the QAS Emerging Maroons squad. Later that month, he was chosen for the Cowboys' team for the 2015 NRL Auckland Nines. Javid continued to play for the Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup. In May 2015, he played for the Queensland Residents team again. He scored a try in their win over New South Wales.
NRL Debut and Seasons
2016 Season
In Round 5 of the 2016 NRL season, Javid made his first-grade debut for the North Queensland Cowboys. He scored a try in his team's big win. Javid finished his first NRL season with 4 tries in 10 games. He also started as a centre in two of the Cowboys' finals games.
2017 Season
Javid played 13 games in 2017 and scored three tries. He was often a backup player. He also played for the Northern Pride. He filled in at wing and centre when other players were injured.
2018 Season
Javid started the 2018 NRL season playing at centre. This was because a regular player was injured. He played in the first five games for the North Queensland Cowboys. After a loss in Round 5, he went back to play for the Northern Pride. He played only one more game for the Cowboys that year. On October 11, he signed a new one-year deal with the Cowboys.
2019 Season
In 2019, Javid played only seven games for the North Queensland team. He spent most of the season playing for the Northern Pride. For the Cowboys, he started six games on the wing and one at centre. He scored two tries. On September 13, 2019, it was announced that the Cowboys would not re-sign him.
2020 Season
Javid joined the Northern Pride full-time for the 2020 season. He became the team's captain. He played only one game that year. The season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
2021 Season and Retirement
On February 3, 2021, Javid rejoined the North Queensland Cowboys. He signed a one-year deal after training with them. In Round 9 of the 2021 NRL season, he returned to the NRL. He started at centre in a close win. On May 26, he signed another contract with the Cowboys until the end of the 2022 season.
However, on July 19, Javid was ruled out for the rest of the season. He had a serious knee injury during a game. On October 26, Javid announced he was retiring from rugby league. This was due to his knee injury.
