Francisco Javier Rojo Garcia (born on March 2, 1949) is a Spanish politician. He is a member of the Socialist Party. From 2004 to 2011, he held an important position. He served as the President of the Spanish Senate.

Early Life and Career
Javier Rojo Garcia was born in Pamplona, Spain, on March 2, 1949. When he was very young, his family moved to Vitoria-Gasteiz. Before becoming a politician, he worked as a lithographer and graphic artist.
He started his political journey in 1976. He quickly became important in the Basque Socialist Party (PSE-EE). Javier Rojo is married and has two daughters.
Political Activity
Javier Rojo joined the UGT (a large trade union) in 1976. This was just one year after he became a member of the PSE.
In 1979, he was elected as a Provincial Councillor for Álava. He held this position until 1983. In the 1982 general election, he was elected to the Congress. He represented the area of Álava. He was re-elected to the Congress in 1986 and 1989.
Serving in the Senate
In the 1993 general election, Javier Rojo was elected as a Senator for Álava. He continued to be re-elected as Senator in several elections:

President of the Senate
After the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party won the 2004 general election, Javier Rojo became the President of the Senate. He served in this role from 2004 to 2011.
In 2008, he was chosen for his second term as President. He was the only candidate for the position. He was elected by a large majority of votes. He received 134 out of 253 votes.
