Juan José Lucas Giménez (born May 10, 1944) is a Spanish lawyer, teacher, and politician. He is a member of the People's Party.
Early Life and School
Juan José Lucas Giménez was born in Burgo de Osma, a town in Soria, Spain. This was on May 10, 1944. He went to the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. There, he studied law and earned his degree.
What He Did Before Politics
Before becoming a full-time politician, Juan José Lucas had several jobs. He taught as a professor in 1968 and 1969. He also helped students at Soria University. He worked for a government agency called INEM. There, he started as a technician. Later, he became a secretary and a director. He also worked for the Instituto Nacional de Colonización. This agency helped people settle in new areas. He was also a Deputy Director General in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
His Time in the Senate of Spain
The Cortes of Castile and León chose Juan José Lucas to be a Senator on March 22, 2002. The Senate is like one part of Spain's parliament. He became the President of the Senate of Spain. This was from October 16, 2002, to April 2, 2004. His party then lost most of its seats in the 2004 elections.
After that, from 2004 to 2011, he was the Second Vice President of the Senate. On December 12, 2011, Mariano Rajoy suggested him for a new role. He became the Deputy President of the Senate of Spain. This was for the 10th Legislature, which is a period of time when the parliament is working.
