Jayasudha Kapoor, also known as Jayasudha, is a famous Indian actress and politician. She is best known for her work in Telugu cinema, which are movies made in the Telugu language. She has also acted in films in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. People call her a "natural actress" because she acts so realistically. She has been working in movies for over 50 years!
Jayasudha has won many awards for her acting. She has received nine Nandi Awards, which are state awards for films. Some of the movies she won for include Jyothi (1976) and Premabhishekam (1981). She also won five Filmfare Awards South for her performances. In 2008, she received the ANR National Award, and in 2010, she got the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award - South for her amazing contributions to Indian movies. Besides acting, Jayasudha also served as a Member of Legislative Assembly for the Secunderabad area from 2009 to 2014.

About Jayasudha's Life
Jayasudha was born on December 17, 1958, in Madras, which is now called Chennai. Her birth name was Sujatha Nidudavolu. She comes from a Telugu-speaking family. Her father was Nidudavolu Rameswara Rao, and her mother, Joga Bai, was also an actress. Her grandfather, Nidudavolu Venkatarao, was a well-known scholar.
Jayasudha was married to Kakarlapudi Rajendra Prasad, but that marriage ended. Later, in 1985, she married Nitin Kapoor. They had two sons, Nihar (born in 1986) and Shreayan (born in 1990).
In 2009, Jayasudha became a politician. She was elected as an MLA for the Secunderabad area with the Indian National Congress party. Later, she joined the Telugu Desam Party in 2016. In 2019, she moved to the YSR Congress Party. Since 2023, she has been a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Jayasudha's Acting Career
Jayasudha started her acting journey at just 13 years old in the Telugu film Pandanti Kapuram (1972). A famous director, K. Balachander, gave her a small role in the Tamil movie Arangetram. She acted in many films directed by Balachander in both Telugu and Tamil. She changed her name to Jayasudha because there was another actress named Sujatha.
Her first main role as a heroine was in the Telugu film Lakshmana Rekha (1975). But it was her role in Jyothi that made her a big star. People started calling her the next great Telugu actress, like Savitri. She became known as "Sahaja Nati," which means "natural actress," because of her realistic acting.
Jayasudha took on many different kinds of roles. She played a young girl in Nomu (1974) and a troubled wife in Idi Katha Kaadu (1979). She also acted in Telugu versions of popular Hindi films. In 1977, she starred in Adavi Ramudu, which was a huge success at the box office. She even played a supporting role as a deglamorized character in Premabhishekam, showing she wasn't afraid to take on challenging parts.
She has acted in over 300 movies! In one year, she even had 24 films released. She created her own special place in the Telugu film industry, even with strong competition from other actresses like Sridevi and Jayaprada.

Besides acting, Jayasudha has also worked behind the scenes.
- She produced films like Kanchana Sita (1987) and Kalikalam (1990).
- She also wrote the story for the film Hands Up (2000).
Television Work
Jayasudha also appeared on television. She was part of the TV show Janani from 2000 to 2001 on ETV.

Jayasudha's life and career are so important that an actress named Payal Rajput played her in the 2019 movie NTR: Kathanayakudu, which was a film about a famous actor and politician.
