Jayli's Early Life and Journey
Jayli Wolf was born in Creston, British Columbia, Canada. She grew up in a trailer with her mother's family. For many years, she believed she was half-Mexican. However, when she was eight years old, she learned something important. She found out she was First Nations.
Her father later discovered his true heritage. He had been taken from his family as a child. This was part of a sad time called the Sixties Scoop. During this time, many Indigenous children were removed from their homes. His adoption papers had hidden his true background. He eventually found his family in the Saulteau First Nation. This community is near Chetwynd.
Jayli grew up in a strict religious group. She met Hayden Wolf online through friends. She convinced him to leave the religion with her. They got married in 2012. Jayli won a songwriting contest, and they moved to Toronto. She left university to focus on her music career. As an adult, Jayli has reconnected with her father's family. She has also embraced her Indigenous heritage.
