Jazeman Jaafar's Racing Journey
Starting with Karting
Jazeman began his racing journey when he was just 6 years old. He started with karting in Shah Alam, Malaysia. What began as a fun hobby quickly turned into a serious career. Jazeman won 11 karting championships in Malaysia and Asia. He also won the Belgian Open Kart Championship Race.
Racing in Formula Renault
In 2006, Jazeman joined the Asian Formula Renault 2.0 series. He was only 13 years old at the time. This was very special because he was the youngest driver ever to get an International C Licence. This special licence is given by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). He finished third in the championship that year. He also earned four podium finishes, meaning he placed in the top three in four races.
Winning in Formula BMW
In 2007, Jazeman competed in Formula BMW Asia. Again, he received special permission from the FIA to race at 14 years old. Jazeman won the championship, but it was a bit complicated.
After one race, his car was checked and found to have a small technical problem. This led to him being disqualified from that race. His team appealed this decision. Later, the appeal was successful, and Jazeman got his championship title back. This made him the youngest winner in Formula BMW history at 14 years old.
Jazeman then raced for two seasons in Formula BMW Europe. He finished 14th in 2008 and 9th in 2009.
Moving to Formula Three
Jazeman moved to the British Formula 3 Championship in 2010. He drove for a team called Carlin.
In 2012, Jazeman had a fantastic year. He finished second overall in the British F3 International Series. He also became the first Asian driver to win the Grand Prix de Pau race. He secured his second-place finish by coming in third at the final race. After this success, Jazeman looked forward to moving up to bigger racing series.
Success in Formula Renault 3.5
Jazeman then stepped up to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013, again with Carlin. During his three seasons in this series, he achieved great things. He earned one pole position, which means he started a race from the very front. He also had seven podium finishes, placing in the top three. A big highlight was winning the Monaco Grand Prix with the Fortec team. He drove for ISR Racing and Fortec Motorsports during these years.
