Diet Pepsi Jazz was a special kind of soda made by the Pepsi company. It was sold in America from 2006 to 2009. This drink was a unique version of Diet Pepsi that mixed different flavors together.
History of Diet Pepsi Jazz
In 2006, Pepsi launched Diet Pepsi Jazz. Before picking "Jazz," they thought about calling it "Splurge" or "Indulge." This drink had no calories and came in three dessert-like flavors: Black Cherry and French Vanilla, Strawberries and Cream, and Caramel Cream. It used the Pepsi logo from 2003.
Pepsi advertised the soda a lot with the slogan "Jazz, the new sound of cola." They made TV ads with jazz and blues music. These ads featured actress Leah Elias and music by Genji Siraisi from Groove Collective. They also placed a big ad in People Magazine. This ad had a pop-up picture of the bottle, a small chip that played music, and a "scratch and sniff" area so you could smell the drink. Pepsi also wanted to create a website where people could mix Siraisi's music, but it was never built.
Some people noticed that Pepsi's jazz-themed ads were similar to what Coca-Cola was doing at the same time. Coca-Cola had given $10 million to Jazz at Lincoln Center (J@LC). This money helped build a new performance space called Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. However, a Pepsi brand manager said the two campaigns were not connected.
PepsiCo stopped selling Diet Pepsi Jazz in 2007. This was because it didn't sell very well. Another Pepsi drink, Pepsi Max, was much more successful.
Diet Pepsi Jazz in Pop Culture
Diet Pepsi Jazz is mentioned in the movie The Promotion. You can see it when actor John C. Reilly is setting up a soda display.
