Jean-Noël Rey (born 23 December 1949 – died 16 January 2016) was a politician from Switzerland. He was a member of the Socialist Party. He worked in the Swiss government and also led the country's postal service.

Jean-Noël Rey was an important figure in Swiss politics. He was part of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland. This is like the parliament or congress where laws are made for the country. He was the Secretary for the Socialist Group within this assembly.

Later, from 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the National Council of Switzerland. This is one of the two main parts of the Federal Assembly. It's where elected representatives from different parts of Switzerland meet.

Leading Swiss Post

Besides his political roles, Jean-Noël Rey was also the CEO of Swiss Post. The CEO is the top leader of a company. Swiss Post is the national postal service of Switzerland, responsible for delivering mail and packages.

His Death

Jean-Noël Rey sadly died on 16 January 2016. He was in Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso, a country in Africa. He was 66 years old when he passed away during an attack.
