Jean Image was a famous French animator, director, and producer. His real name was Imre Hajdú. He was born in Hungary on January 26, 1911. He later moved to France and became known for creating many animated films and TV shows. His stage name, "Image," came from the first parts of his real name, "Im-Haj."
In 1959, Jean Image helped start the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. This is a big event where animated movies from all over the world are shown. He also wrote a book about how animation works, called Le Dessin animé: initiation à la technique.

His Amazing Career
Jean Image moved to France in 1932. There, he started working on films. Soon, he began making his own short animated movies. After World War II, he was inspired by the classic cartoons of Walt Disney. Jean Image then became the first person in France to produce a full-length animated film. This movie was called Johnny the Giant Killer.
In 1948, he started his own company, Films Jean Image. By 1960, he focused on making cartoon series for television. Two of his TV shows became very popular. These were Kiri le Clown and Joe.
