About Jeanne Colin-De Clerck

Jeanne Colin-De Clerck was born in Brussels, Belgium. She studied music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. While there, she won first prize for solfeggio in 1942. Solfeggio is a way of learning to read music by singing notes. She also received a special mention for playing piano to accompany other musicians.

After finishing her studies, Jeanne started composing music on her own. She didn't have a teacher for composing. Four years later, in 1946, she began teaching at the Music Academy in Anderlecht. She taught solfeggio there as a professor until 1977.

Jeanne married another composer named Georges Colin (1921–2002). They had two sons and two daughters. Throughout her career, Jeanne also worked with her husband on many musical pieces. Her music style is often described as having a unique, modern sound.
