Jefferson, also known as Jeff Springs, is a small community in Arkansas, USA. It is located in the northwestern part of Jefferson County. This community is important because it is home to a special research center. It is also situated along the Union Pacific Railway.

A Look Back in Time
Jefferson was officially started on October 3, 1881. This happened because a new railroad line was built. The railroad connected Chicot to Little Rock, helping the community grow.
Important Research Happens Here
Jefferson is home to the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR). This center is a big part of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA makes sure our food, medicines, and other products are safe.
The NCTR campus is huge, covering 496 acres. It is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest. This is the only FDA center that is not located near Washington D.C. The research campus helps the FDA and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services protect public health. They do important research to make sure products are safe for everyone.
