Jennifer Hawkins (born 22 December 1983) is an Australian TV host, model, and beauty queen. She became famous after winning Miss Universe 2004. Before that, she was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2004. Jennifer has also hosted Australia's Next Top Model. She has been a brand ambassador for companies like Lovable Intimates and Range Rover. She was also the face of the Australian department store, Myer.

Early Life and Beginnings

Jennifer Hawkins was born in Holmesville, New South Wales, Australia. Her parents are Gail and Robert. She went to West Wallsend High School in West Wallsend, New South Wales. Jennifer has three siblings.

Before becoming a model, she was a cheerleader. She cheered for the Newcastle Knights rugby league team. She also cheered for the Hunter Pirates basketball team. Jennifer also worked as a choreographer for a dance team. This team toured Australia, performing hip hop and ballet.

Before the Miss Universe 2004 competition, Jennifer got advice. She spoke with Ashlea Talbot, who was Miss Universe Australia in 2003. Jennifer also learned some basic Spanish. This helped her prepare for her trip to Ecuador.

Winning the Miss Universe Crown

The Miss Universe pageant took place in Quito, Ecuador, on June 1, 2004. Jennifer was one of the favorites to win. She was the first Australian to reach the semi-finals since 1993.

She then moved into the top ten after the evening gown competition. She wore a special vintage copper gown. It was designed by Bora and cost A$25,000. After the swimsuit competition, Jennifer made it to the top five. She then won the Miss Universe title!

The other top five contestants were from the Americas and Caribbean. They included Shandi Finnessey from the USA (1st runner-up). Also, Alba Reyes of Puerto Rico (2nd runner-up), Yanina Gonzalez of Paraguay (3rd runner-up), and Danielle Jones of Trinidad and Tobago (4th runner-up).

Jennifer was the second winner from Oceania since 1983. She was also the second Australian to win. Kerry Anne Wells won the title in 1972.

Amelia Vega from the Dominican Republic crowned Jennifer. The host, Billy Bush, called her the "thunder from down under."

Jennifer received a beautiful Mikimoto pearl crown. It was worth $250,000. She also received many other prizes. She was the first blonde-haired woman to win since 1989.

Life as Miss Universe

As Miss Universe, Jennifer represented the Miss Universe Organization. She traveled to many countries. These included Korea, Brazil, Germany, and Canada. She also visited her home country, Australia.

In Brazil, she met the Vice-President, José Alencar. He said she was "the prettiest girl I have ever seen." Jennifer was also the first Miss Universe to parade in a Samba School during Brazilian carnival.

During her year as Miss Universe, she lived in New York City. The Miss Universe Organization provided her with an apartment. Jennifer said she wanted to continue modeling and become a TV presenter.

Shortly after winning, Jennifer had a moment that made news. During a fashion show, her dress accidentally slipped. This moment was widely shared. Jennifer later laughed about it.

Jennifer also served as a judge for the Miss Universe 2008 finals in Vietnam.

Television Career

Jennifer signed a contract with the Seven Network in 2004. Her first TV appearances were on The Great Outdoors. She was a guest presenter on this travel show. She took viewers on tours around the world.

After her Miss Universe reign, she became a regular presenter. This led to a nomination for a Logie Award in 2006.

Jennifer also hosted Make Me a Supermodel. This show debuted on the Seven Network in August 2008. It aired for one season.

On June 4, 2013, Jennifer Hawkins married Jake Wall. They had been together for eight years. Their wedding was a small ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. They were engaged for 18 months before getting married.

In May 2019, Jennifer announced she and Jake were expecting their first child. She shared that she had faced some fertility challenges. Their daughter was born on October 22, 2019.

Jennifer lives in Sydney. On October 20, 2021, she announced the birth of their second child, a son.
