Jeremy Russell Brockie (born 7 October 1987) is a New Zealand former professional footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team. He is well-known for representing New Zealand in big international tournaments.

Jeremy played for the New Zealand national team, also known as the All Whites, in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He also played at the 2008 Olympic Games. He was part of the team that won the 2016 OFC Nations Cup, a major football competition for Oceania countries.

Club Career Highlights

Starting Out in New Zealand

Jeremy Brockie began his youth football journey at Richmond Athletic. He started his senior career playing for Nelson Suburbs in New Zealand. After that, he joined Canterbury United for the 2004–05 season.

Playing in the A-League

Jeremy became known for his skills while playing for the New Zealand Knights in the A-League. He scored four goals in his first season with the team. His first goals were two against Newcastle Jets. He also scored a goal against Sydney FC and another against Melbourne Victory. He was one of the top goal scorers for the Knights that season.

In 2006, Jeremy moved to Sydney FC. However, he didn't play as much as he hoped there. He later returned to New Zealand to play for Hawke's Bay United and Team Wellington.

In 2009, Jeremy joined a new A-League team called North Queensland Fury. He scored his first goal for them in January 2010. After that, he signed with the Newcastle Jets in March 2010.

Time with Wellington Phoenix

On 14 May 2012, Jeremy signed a three-year contract with Wellington Phoenix, a New Zealand team in the A-League. He had a great start, scoring his first goal for the team against Melbourne Victory. He followed this up with another amazing goal from a free kick.

The 2012–13 season was very successful for Jeremy. He scored 16 goals in 25 games for the Phoenix. This made him the second-highest goal scorer in the A-League that season.

Loan to Toronto FC

In 2013, Jeremy was loaned to Toronto FC, a team in Major League Soccer in North America. He joined his fellow New Zealander, Ryan Nelsen, who was the manager there. Jeremy helped his team by providing an assist for a goal in a game against Philadelphia Union. He scored his first goal for Toronto FC on 3 July 2013 against Montreal Impact. His loan with Toronto FC ended in August 2013.

Leaving the Phoenix

On 4 December 2014, Jeremy signed a contract with SuperSport United F.C. in South Africa. In his last game for the Wellington Phoenix, he scored two goals, helping his team win 3–0 against Brisbane Roar.

Playing in South Africa

In September 2019, Jeremy moved to Maritzburg United on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns for the 2019–20 season. He left Maritzburg United in June 2020.

International Career

Jeremy Brockie has played for New Zealand at different levels. He played for the New Zealand Under-23 team and the Under-20 team.

In January 2006, he was called up to play for the senior national team, the All Whites. He made his international debut on 19 February 2006, playing against Malaysia. He also played in games against Georgia, Estonia, and Brazil during a tour of Europe.

In 2008, Jeremy scored a goal for the New Zealand Under-23 team in a 1–1 draw against China at the Olympic Football Preliminaries. He was also part of the New Zealand squad for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Jeremy scored his first goal for the senior national team on 9 September 2014 against Uzbekistan.
