Jeremy Butler's College Football Journey
Jeremy played college football at the University of Tennessee Martin. He was a wide receiver for their team, the UT Martin Skyhawks. In his final year, he played really well. He even earned a special honor called "third-team All-American." This means he was one of the best players in the country.
Playing in the NFL
After college, Jeremy hoped to be chosen in the NFL draft. However, he was not picked by any team. This meant he became an "undrafted free agent."
Joining the Baltimore Ravens
Even though he wasn't drafted, the Baltimore Ravens signed Jeremy on May 12, 2014. This was his big chance to play in the NFL! Sadly, he got a shoulder injury early on. This meant he had to miss his first season and was placed on the injured reserve list.
In 2015, Jeremy returned from his injury. He worked hard to earn a spot on the Ravens' main team. He was released at first, but then the Ravens signed him to their practice squad. Later that year, because many players were injured, Jeremy was moved to the active team. He started playing in games and became an important part of the offense.
On September 3, 2016, the Ravens released Jeremy.
Other NFL Teams
After leaving the Ravens, Jeremy played for a few other NFL teams in 2016:
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him on September 4, 2016. He played for them briefly before being released.
- He then joined the New York Jets on October 11, 2016.
- Later, on October 31, 2016, the San Diego Chargers picked him up.
Buffalo Bills and Retirement
On March 13, 2017, Jeremy signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. However, he was injured again on September 2, 2017. He was placed on injured reserve, which ended his time with the Bills. Jeremy Butler is now a former NFL player.
