Jeremiah Clayton Davis (born February 8, 1985), also known as Jerm, is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the former bassist for the rock band Paramore. He played with the band until December 2015.
Early Life and Music
Jeremiah Clayton Davis was born on February 8, 1985, in Little Rock, Arkansas. When he was 17, in 2002, he lived in Franklin, Tennessee. There, he played bass in a band called The Factory. This is where he first met Hayley Williams.
Through Hayley, Jeremy also met brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro. Together, they decided to form a new band. Jeremy was a bit worried at first because Zac was only 14. He thought people might not take them seriously. But once they saw Zac play, they knew he was talented.
Being Part of Paramore
Paramore was formed in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2004. The band started with brothers Josh Farro (lead guitar) and Zac Farro (drums). Taylor York was also involved early on. However, his parents wanted him to finish school first. He officially rejoined the band in 2007.
Later, they asked Hayley Williams to be the lead singer. Through Hayley, Jeremy Davis joined as the bass player. In 2005, a record label called Fueled by Ramen signed the band.
Paramore released their first album, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005. Jeremy was not with the band for a short time during this period. He was replaced by John Hembree. But Jeremy rejoined soon after. He played bass on their second album, Riot!, which came out in 2007. He also played on their live albums, The Final Riot! and Live in the UK.
The band's third album, Brand New Eyes, was released in 2009. Their fourth album, simply titled Paramore, came out in 2013. In 2014, Jeremy was even nominated for Best Bassist at the Alternative Press Music Awards.
On December 14, 2015, it was announced that Jeremy would no longer be in Paramore. The band continued as a duo with Hayley Williams and Taylor York. Later, there were some disagreements about the band's music and earnings. Paramore continued to make music and perform.
Other Music Projects
Jeremy Davis has also worked on other music projects. In 2015, he helped produce and played bass on a song called "Violet Vibrato" by the artist B.o.B..
In October 2020, Jeremy started his own record label. He named it Post Trap Entertainment. On May 7, 2021, Jeremy released his first solo album. It was called Grand Ole Opportunity.
