Career history

Jeremy Towns (born March 9, 1989) is an amazing person who used to play professional football in the National Football League (NFL). He was a defensive tackle, which is a player who tries to stop the other team from scoring. After playing for teams like the Washington Redskins, the Buffalo Bills, and the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeremy decided to follow another dream: becoming a medical doctor! He now helps people as an emergency medicine doctor and also works to help young athletes and students.

From Football Field to Doctor's Office

Early Life and School

Jeremy grew up in a place called Dolomite, near Birmingham, Alabama. He went to Wenonah High School there. For college, he attended Samford University. He studied sports medicine, learning all about how the body works, especially for athletes. While at Samford, he also played football as a defensive lineman.

Just before he was supposed to start medical school, something exciting happened. He got a chance to play professional football! He signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent. This meant he put his medical school plans on hold for a bit.

Becoming a Doctor

After his time playing in the NFL, Jeremy went back to school. He returned to the University of South Alabama. He worked hard and graduated as a medical doctor (MD).

After medical school, he completed his residency at the UAB Hospital. A residency is like a special training program for new doctors. Jeremy chose to specialize in Emergency Medicine. This means he learned how to help people who need urgent medical care right away.

Football Career and Helping Others

Playing in the NFL

Jeremy Towns played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) from 2014 to 2015. He played in some pre-season games with the Washington Redskins. Pre-season games are like practice games before the regular season starts. However, he was cut from the team before the main season began.

Next, he signed with the Buffalo Bills. He stayed with them for a full season and even through the next pre-season. After that, he played for a short time with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sadly, a knee injury ended his football career. This injury led him back to his other passion: medicine.

Giving Back to the Community

Even while playing football and studying medicine, Jeremy always found time to help others. He founded a group called RANSOM. This stands for Radical Athlete and Student Oasis Ministry. It's a campus ministry group that helps young athletes and students.

Jeremy also runs youth football camps all over Alabama. At these camps, he teaches young players about football. More importantly, he serves as a mentor. A mentor is someone who guides and supports younger people, helping them make good choices and reach their goals.
