Jericho is a small, quiet place located in Perry County, Alabama, in the United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county. You can find Jericho about 11.2 miles (18 km) north-northeast of a town called Marion, right along Alabama State Route 5.

What is the History of Jericho?

Jericho has a history that goes back many years! From 1836 to 1907, there was a post office here. A post office is where people would send and receive letters and packages, which was super important before emails and phones!

Back then, Jericho was also a busy place for making things. It had at least one sawmill, which cuts down trees into lumber for building, and three gristmills. Gristmills were places where farmers would bring their grains, like corn or wheat, to be ground into flour. This shows that Jericho was once a small but important center for farming and trade in the area.
