Jericho is a small area, or suburb, that is part of the town of Kadina. It is located on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. This area is managed by the Copper Coast Council, which is like the local government for the region.
About Jericho
Jericho's official boundaries were set in January 1999. However, people had been using the name "Jericho" for this area for a long time before it became official.
Early History
The land where Jericho is located was first surveyed in 1871. At that time, it was divided into special "occupation blocks." These were pieces of land set aside for people to live on. There was a big need for homes near Wallaroo Mines. This was a busy mining area nearby, and many people needed places to live close to their work. So, Jericho helped provide housing for the growing population around the mines.
