Switchfoot is an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California. The band started in 1996. It was formed by lead singer Jon Foreman, his brother Tim, and Chad Butler. They first called themselves Chin Up.
The band released their first album, The Legend of Chin, in 1997. Their second album, New Way to Be Human, came out in 1999. In 2000, they released Learning to Breathe. This album was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001 for Best Rock Gospel Album.
Switchfoot continued to release many albums. The Beautiful Letdown came out in 2003. Then came Nothing Is Sound in 2005 and Oh! Gravity. in 2006. Their album Vice Verses was released in 2011. The band also released Fading West in 2014. This album came with a movie about the band.

- Tim Foreman – He plays the bass guitar. He also joined the band in 1996.
- Chad Butler – He plays the drums. He has been with the band since 1996.
- Jerome Fontamillas – He plays rhythm guitar and keyboard. He joined the band in 2003.
- Drew Shirley – He plays lead guitar. He joined the band in 2005.
