Jerry Richard Louis Marion, born on August 7, 1944, is a former American football player. He played as an "end," which is a position on the football field. He is best known for playing one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). The Steelers chose him in the 1966 NFL draft after he played college football at the University of Wyoming.

Early Life and College Football

Jerry Richard Louis Marion was born on August 7, 1944. His hometown is Bakersfield, California. He went to Bakersfield High School there.

After high school, Jerry played college football for the Wyoming Cowboys. He was part of the team from 1963 to 1966. He was a "letterman" for three years, from 1964 to 1966. This means he played well enough to earn a special award called a letter for his sport.

Playing in the Pros

Jerry Marion was chosen by two different professional football teams in 1966. The Pittsburgh Steelers picked him in the tenth round of the 1966 NFL draft. He was the 143rd player chosen overall. The Boston Patriots also picked him in the 11th round of another draft that year.

In 1967, Jerry played for the Wheeling Ironmen. This team was part of the Continental Football League (COFL). During that season, he caught 28 passes for 358 yards. He also scored five touchdowns. He returned eight punts for 85 yards too.

Later in 1967, Jerry played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. He played in seven games during the 1967 NFL season. He caught one pass for 16 yards and returned one punt for two yards.

He went back to play for the Ironmen in 1968. The team was then called the Ohio Valley Ironmen. That year, he had 17 catches for 225 yards and three touchdowns.
