Jesús Colina (born in Miranda de Ebro, Spain, in 1969) is a Spanish journalist. He has spent much of his career working in Rome, Italy. He is well-known for his work in Catholic news. He once led the Zenit News Agency. Today, he is in charge of the online newspaper Aleteia.

Early Career in Journalism

Jesús Colina began his career in journalism in 1991. He worked as an editor for several international magazines. These included Proyección Mundial from Mexico and the American Catholic World Report. He also worked for the French magazine Le Temps de l'Eglise.

Since 1994, Colina has been a correspondent in Rome. He reported for Alfa y Omega. This is a weekly part of the Spanish newspaper ABC. He has also written for other important newspapers. These include Avvenire and the National Catholic Register.

Founding ZENIT News Agency

In 1997, Jesús Colina started something new. He founded ZENIT. This was a news agency focused on Catholic news. It aimed to share news and information from the Catholic Church around the world.

In 1998, he also worked with RIIAL. This was a digital network for the Church in Latin America. In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI asked Colina to be an advisor. He advised the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. This group helps the Church use media to share its message.

In 2011, Colina left ZENIT. The Legionaries of Christ decided to make changes to the agency.

Starting Aleteia

After leaving ZENIT, Jesús Colina started a new project. In 2011, he founded Aleteia. This is an online news and information website. It focuses on Catholic topics. The Foundation for Evangelization through the Media supported this new website. Today, Jesús Colina is the president and editorial director of Aleteia.

Awards and Recognition

Jesús Colina has received awards for his work. In 2006, he got the Servitor Pacis Award. He received this award at the United Nations headquarters in New York. It was given for his important contributions to peace through his work. In 2018, he also received the "Bravo!" award. This award came from the Spanish bishops.
