Jesús María is a city in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. It is located about 49 kilometers (30 miles) north of the provincial capital, Córdoba. The city sits along National Route 9 in the beautiful valley of the Sierras Chicas. Around 27,000 people lived there in 2001.

History of Jesús María
The city of Jesús María started as a large farm called an estancia. This farm was set up by missionaries from the Society of Jesus in 1618. These missionaries were also known as Jesuits.
Jesuit Heritage
A very old building, a convent from the 1700s, is still standing near the city. Today, this building is the National Jesuit Museum. It helps us learn about the past. The Jesuit Block and Estancias of Córdoba are a group of historic Jesuit sites. They were named a World Heritage Site in 2000. This means they are very important to the world's history and culture.
