A Young Leader in Federal Way
Before joining the state legislature, Jesse Johnson served on the Federal Way City Council. He was the youngest person ever to serve on that council. This role helped him learn how local government works and how to help his community.
Representing Washington State
In January 2020, Jesse Johnson was chosen to join the Washington House of Representatives. He took the place of Representative Kristine Reeves, who had resigned. This was a big step, as he moved from local city government to state-level politics.
After being appointed, Johnson ran for election in November 2020 to keep his seat. He won the election and served a full two-year term. As a state representative, he helped make laws for all of Washington.
Why He Stepped Down
In 2022, Jesse Johnson decided not to run for re-election. He wanted to spend more time with his young family. At that time, he had a six-month-old baby, and his wife was studying in medical school. His term as a state representative ended in January 2023.
